My Favorite Letter A Books for Kindergarten

When it’s time to introduce the letter A in kindergarten, there’s no better way to make it stick than with picture books! Whether you’re kicking off your letter of the week activities with a read aloud or adding to your classroom library, this list of letter A books is full of kid-approved favorites. From apples to ants (and even an alligator!), these read alouds are the perfect way to highlight the first letter of the alphabet. This nonfiction book has great photos and fun facts all about apples. It’s a great option for integrating science and vocabulary into learning about Aa for Letter of the Week. We’re usually close to our apples unit when we’re learning about Aa, so this is a natural choice!

Here’s a silly and imaginative story that kids love! This classic brings in the word alligator, giving you another strong letter A focus while watching a boy deal with his nighttime fears. It’s a classic!
