Christmas Bulletin Board Ideas to Light Up Your Classroom

The holiday season is a magical time to transform your classroom into a festive wonderland, and what better way to spread cheer than a creative Christmas bulletin board? Whether you want simple and sweet or one that ties in kindergarten skills, your bulletin board can become a daily delight for students, parents, and anyone who walks down the hallway. Here are a few of my favorite Christmas bulletin board ideas for kindergarten!

Why I Love Christmas Bulletin Boards

Trust me, I know this is a *crazy* time of year, and your bulletin boards might be taking the back burner right now. However, if you have just a few minutes, here are some ways to save time on your bulletin boards this Christmas:

  • Incorporate the craft into a lesson! For example, my gingerbread house craft fits seamlessly into a math lesson. Two birds with one stone, right?!
  • Keep it basic! If all you have time for is a border and colorful paper, that’s totally fine. If you put up red paper now, you can even save it for Valentine’s Day! You can always leave room for a phrase if you want to add one later.
  • Remember that although it’s a crazy time of year, a Christmas bulletin board can have a big impact. If you have families come in for holiday parties, you’ll be glad you made the time to do a cute bulletin board. They will love it!

Christmas Tree Name Craft

This bulletin board craft is simple but meaningful! Each student creates a Christmas tree craft and decorates it with ornaments spelling their name. This transforms a simple “who’s in our class” bulletin board into a festive display!

If you’re looking for a quick way to implement this, check out my Christmas Tree Name Craft! It has simple, kindergarten-friendly cutting templates. I added an editable option so you can type your students’ names, or just print and have students write the letters on their own!

2D Shape Gingerbread House Craft

Here’s a bulletin board idea that’s both festive and educational! In fact, make it your math lesson for a day! Your students can build their own paper gingerbread houses using different shapes, giving them practice with 2D shape names and orientations. When you hang them all together, you’ll have the sweetest little “gingerbread village” on your bulletin board!

Gingerbread Man Craft & Writing Activity

If you’d like another gingerbread option, check out my Gingerbread Man Craft and Writing Activity! I originally created this to pair with a read aloud. There’s a simple writing component that you can differentiate for your learners.

Students create their own gingerbread person (the templates are simple!) and then complete a writing prompt. You can choose from one of six writing pages.

Christmas Bulletin Board Tips and Ideas

  • Only have one bulletin board to decorate? No problem! Combine several of these ideas, such as the Christmas tree name craft next to each student’s gingerbread houses!
  • Try putting the Christmas tree name crafts on your classroom door! You can use a catchy phrase like, “Our Class is Tree-mendously Bright!”
  • Pair your gingerbread bulletin board with a fun phrase! The punnier the better, in my opinion! A couple of my favorite ideas are “Welcome to Gingerbread Lane!” or “Oh, Snap! We’re Learning Shapes!”
  • Use kraft paper, colored cardstock, or even Christmas wrapping paper as a background.

I put together a few curated lists of seasonal bulletin board decor that’s perfect for Christmas bulletin boards! Click on the images below to shop the items shown in each collage!
