Fall is in the air, which can only mean one thing: pumpkin season is here! It’s the perfect time to bring some fun and educational pumpkin activities into your classroom.
Learning about life cycles is a great way for our students to connect to nature and the world around them. When exploring life cycles, students learn new vocabulary, make real-world connections, practice sequencing, and more.
Today, I’m giving you a closer look at activities from my Pumpkin Life Cycle pack for kindergarten. If you’ve used my Apple Life Cycle pack, you’ll find that it’s a very similar and familiar format. They will work perfectly with your unit about pumpkins and/or life cycles!
Grab your pumpkin spice latte and let’s get started!
Pumpkin Life Cycle Vocabulary Cards
These simple pocket chart vocabulary cards go along well with read alouds and the other pumpkin life cycle activities in this pack. You can easily reinforce vocabulary by pointing out the words as you come across them in text.
Pumpkin Life Cycle Sequencing Cards
These sequencing cards are also designed for a pocket chart but they can be used in any way you’d like. The steps on the cards correspond with the flip-up book and crown for easy teaching.
I use these as a whole-group activity. After reading about the pumpkin life cycle, we sequence the cards together.
Pumpkin Life Cycle Flip-Up Book
This interactive pumpkin life cycle book is always a hit! Students will cut out the pictures and each picture to the correct life cycle step.
Pumpkin Life Cycle Crown
A pumpkin life cycle pack isn’t complete without a crown! This pack includes two crown templates for you to choose from. For consistency, the cut and paste sequencing activity corresponds with the flip-up book and sequencing cards.
Pumpkin Life Cycle Printables
These are just a couple extra printable activities that you can use as needed.
Free Companion Activity!
I created this free Pumpkin Life Cycle tracing mini book for you to use with any of your pumpkin life cycle activities! It has traceable pumpkin life cycle vocabulary words and matching images to color. Bonus: this book corresponds perfectly with my Pumpkin Life Cycle activities!
