September Crafts for Kindergarten

September is such a fun month in kindergarten! Between settling into classroom routines, learning classmates’ names, practicing early math skills, and beginning fall themes like apples, there are so many opportunities to add a little creativity to the school day.

These September crafts for kindergarten are simple, kindergarten-friendly ways to combine seasonal fun with skills you’re already teaching. In this post, I’m going to share apple crafts, name activities, counting crafts, and other early fall ideas that work well for classroom bulletin boards or just as a fun addition to your September lesson plans!

Apple Crafts for September

Apples are a classic September theme in kindergarten, and there are so many ways to connect them to the skills you’re already teaching. Here are some apple crafts that add a hands-on element to math and science activities while giving students something fun to create along the way.

September Name Craft

September is also a great time to continue working on name recognition and letter order as students get settled into the school year. Adding a seasonal twist to name practice makes it easy and a little more fun!

This Apple Tree Name Craft is so fun! Students will build their own apple tree using the simple templates, then add the letters of their name as the apples. Easy to make and it would look great on a bulletin board!

September Math Craft

Crafts can be a fun way to add a little variety to math lessons! Here’s a September math craft that gives students hands-on counting practice while creating something they’ll be excited to take home or see displayed in the classroom.

Sunflower Crafts for Kindergarten

Here in Kansas, we take sunflower time very seriously! But no matter where you live and teach, here are a couple sunflower crafts that will brighten up your classroom.

This sunflower craft includes an easy-to-cut sunflower template and a counting by tens activity. It can be used anytime of year, but the fall is the perfect time!

Here’s another life cycle activity! Students will put the pictures in order, then create the crown. It’s a cute activity that goes perfectly with any sunflower lesson.

More Simple September Crafts

Give students an apple outline along with pieces of red, green, or yellow construction paper. They will tear pieces of paper and glue them inside the shape. This is a simple but effective fine motor activity! You can find this apple template in my Apple Fine Motor activities pack.
